Christmas – a time for reflection – Plant-based diet – Recipes and supplements for weight loss

Too often marketing that begins weeks before Halloween and passes through Christmas week shifts the real meaning of Christmas. Along with the merry holidays comes the over-indulgence in unhealthy eating habits that underscore God’s innate self-healing of the body. Is it any wonder that Christmas is in full swing?

I encourage you to take a few minutes this week and reflect on the real reason why we celebrate Christmas and assess where you are both spiritually and physically! Are there any changes that need to be made personally?

God’s greatest gift!

God’s greatest gift to mankind was his Son, who set aside the independent expression of his divinity (Phil. 2: 6-8) to become human in order to satisfy the righteousness and justice of God. God so that whoever wants can be saved (Jn 3). : 16-17). He suffered for our sins. God’s justice was fulfilled on the cross. Now through the grace of God and the sacrifice of Jesus Christ we can have eternal life!

When we look back at the beginning of human history, we see that God created mankind (Adam and Eve Genesis 1:27), placed them in the Garden of Eden with everything they needed, including daily communion. with him. Man would have eternal life in the garden if he passed only one test of his free will: to refrain from eating the fruit of a single tree in the middle of the garden. (Gen. 2: 16-17) Eating the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil would lead to immediate spiritual death (separation from God – Genesis 3: 6-8) and finally to physical death (Gen. 3: 22-24).

We have no way of knowing how long Adam and Eve lived in this perfect environment before they chose to disobey God, sin, and experience spiritual death.

Once they sinned, communion with God was broken (spiritual death) and they would no longer have eternal life. They would experience physical death at some point in the future. Time became the main determining factor in their lives, as well as the rest of mankind that would follow them (Rom. 5:12). Here, in Genesis 3:15, we see the first promise of salvation with a clue that points to the virgin birth of Jesus Christ, whose birthday we celebrate for Christmas. He is the reason for the season!

The Son of God existed in eternity with God the Father and God the Holy Spirit (compare Genesis 1: 1, John 1: 1-14, and John 1: 1-3). Just over two thousand years ago, Jesus was born of a virgin (Matt. 1: 18-25), lived a sinless life, and was finally hanged on the cross where he was judged by God, the Father for sins. of humanity. The sinless and flawless Lamb of God gave his life to pay our debt for sin, thus satisfying God’s righteousness and justice. His work on the cross paved the way for salvation for all who would accept the gift of eternal life (Rom. 10: 9-11).

The gift of God’s health?

As mentioned above, man had eternal life in the Garden and apparently enjoyed a disease-free life. Man (Adam and Eve) nourished their bodies with the raw vegetation provided by God in the Garden. From the time of the first sin to the flood, when God destroyed all mankind except Noah and his family, there are no reported cases of sickness. Nor is there any indication that man strayed from the diet God gave in Genesis 1:29.

God had entrusted mankind with a body capable of enjoying eternal life here on earth and told Adam and Eve how they should nourish it. The human body had and still has an innate ability to hold its own. Each cell dies and is continually renewed in a timely manner. The body has an immune system that is able to keep it in the best condition when the necessary resources are provided.

God did not design a body to succumb to disease. Moses is a great example of how God wanted man to live life to the fullest and eventually die. In Deut. 34: 7 we read: And Moses was an hundred and twenty years old when he died: his eye was not dim, nor his natural force abated. God wanted man to enjoy health and longevity until the advanced years.

Tragically, it is rare today to find people living a long, healthy life. Has God’s will changed for mankind? The answer is a resounding NO!

In Genesis 9: 3 we see that God allowed mankind to begin eating meat with very strict guidelines, and man began to cook his food. Man’s life expectancy dropped from an average of more than 900 years for patriarchs to less than 120 years during the following generations. We have to ask ourselves WHY?

We have strayed so far from God’s design when it comes to feeding our bodies that the innate self-healing God has placed within each of us is no longer able to sustain us well. Most Americans consume a diet that rarely contains raw foods, and consists primarily of animal foods (meat and dairy), highly refined foods (white flour, sugar, and salt). Not more seven percent of the standard American diet consists of fruits and vegetables!

The other 93% consists of foods that will not support a healthy immune system and innate self-healing; therefore, we see young people in their twenties suffering from cancer, heart disease, diabetes, and so on.

If we want to enjoy the life that God has designed for us, we must first acknowledge our sin and our spiritual death and accept Jesus as our Savior. Then, in order to enjoy optimal health, we need to take care of our physical needs and adopt a diet and lifestyle based on the principles found at Genesis 1:29.

Romans 12: 1-2 tells us: Therefore, brethren, I beseech you by the mercy of God to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service. And do not conform to this world, but be transformed by renewal or by your mind, so that you may see what is the good, acceptable, and perfect will of God.

Each of us will make a choice. Either by default: continue with the standard American diet, or choose to renew our mind, educate ourselves, and take responsibility for our health. I encourage you to put 100% effort into your Hallelujah diet next year and see the positive changes you experience over the next 90 days! You will not regret it.
